Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must hold a Bachelors Degree or Higher andan addon certification for Literacy Coach
or
2. Must hold a Bachelors Degree or higher and actively participate* in the SCDE Literacy Leader Institute orare actively pursuing the literacy coach endorsement by enrollment in an SCDEapproved program
or
3. Currently hold a Masters Degree or higher in reading or a closely related field** and be pursuing the required qualifications in coaching
Job Description SchoolBased Reading Coach Cherokee County School District
1. Model effective instructional strategies for teachers.
2. Facilitate study groups.
3. Train teachers in data analysis and using data to differentiate instruction.
4. Coach and mentor colleagues.
5. Provide daily support to classroom teachers.
6. Work with teachers to ensure that researchbased reading programs are implemented with fidelity.
7. Increase the instructional capacity of teachers to meet the needs of all students.
8. Help lead and support reading leadership teams at individual schools.
9. Continue to expand personal knowledge base in best practices in reading instruction intervention and instructional reading strategies.
10. Work with all teachers including content area and elective in the assigned school prioritizing time for those teachers activities and roles that will have the greatest impact on student achievement namely coaching and mentoring in classrooms.
11. Work frequently with students in whole and small group instruction in the context of modeling and coaching in other teachers classrooms.
