Under the supervision of the Desktop Support Supervisor and Applications Manager the Help Desk Specialists primary roles are to provide exceptional customer support and service for first call resolution. They acquire sufficient information and knowledge when the customer calls with issues to ensure timely resolution of the issue in addition to monitoring operating and performing preliminary diagnostics on computer systems and applications including auxiliary equipment. Must maintain strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to employee patients and business operations of Enloe Medical Center.

Full working knowledge of all the desktop tools available for diagnosing the issue. Ability to learn maintenance and troubleshooting of remote communications Local Area Network (LAN) and MS Office applications. They must be detail oriented with great follow through skills. Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment. Ability to understand and to express complex and technical concepts in lay terminology. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with users at all levels of the organization. Interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively. Ability to analyze complex information systems and to coordinate with other resources and management in defining system problems and solutions. Analytical skills necessary to determine user needs from process descriptions and to suggest policies and procedures relative to Network security and operations. Working knowledge of personal computer hardware software network protocols and topologies. Ability to plan and perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to organize prioritize and implement work projects. Ability to actively participate in meetings and work groups. Ability to interact effectively with clients having a broad range of computer knowledge and ability. Ability to work as a team member. Skill in the operation of personal computers and related hardware devices. Ability to work varied shifts. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
