What youll do:Youll be responsiblefor proper screening of Inmates in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Greet new facility Inmate arrivals; provide Inmates with facility information.
  2. Conduct interviews; document and maintain Inmate records; provide referrals as needed.
  3. Maintain liaison between new Inmates and facility staff during adjustment period to facility life.
  4. Responsible for running criminal history detainer and warrant checks on all Substance Abuse Felony Punishment (SAFP) and In Prison Therapeutic Community (IPTC) Inmates arriving and departing the facility.
  5. Conduct interviews with Substance Abuse Felony Punishment (SAFP) Inmates upon arrival into the facility to ensure proper housing assignment.
  6. Coordinate with staff members and appropriate departments to assist in the classification process of incoming Inmates.
  7. Enter applicable data into required computer systems (ex. Forvus) in effort to maintain uptodate and accurate Inmate records.
  8. Promote development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  9. Maintain accountability of Inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or United States Department of Education (USDE).
  • One (1) year fulltime wageearning clerical secretarial administrative support or technical program support experience. Each year of experience in excess of required one (1) year may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a yearforyear basis.
  • One (1) year fulltime wageearning computer operations experience.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.
