Job Description

Astroboticis at the forefront of advancing space exploration and technology development. Our expertise spans from lunar rovers landers and infrastructure to spacecraft navigation machine vision and computing systems for inspace robotic applications. To date the company has been contracted for two lunar missions and has won more than 60 National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial technology contracts worth more than $600 million.

We recently launched and operated the first American lunar lander mission since the Apollo Program. Beyond helping lead America back to the Moon Astrobotic developed and operates reusable vertical takeoff vertical landing (VTVL) rockets and continues to advance nextgeneration VTVL capabilities and advanced rocket engines. Established in 2007 Astrobotic is headquartered in Pittsburgh PA with a propulsion and test campus in Mojave CA.

Astrobotic is seeking a Director of Finance to serve as the companys top finance leader and traditional Controller reporting directly to the CEO. This role is pivotal in overseeing the financial operations of the company with a strong emphasis on U.S. government contractor accounting compliance. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and handson leader capable of managing a growing team and building scalable financial infrastructure aligned with federal contract requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead all accounting operations including general ledger cost accounting accounts payable (AP) accounts receivable (AR) payroll and financial systems administration.
  • Ensure full compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • Develop and maintain governmentcompliant job cost accounting systems including indirect rate structures and allocation methodologies.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations and proper allocation to projects/contracts as needed.
  • Together with the Financial Systems Analyst oversee Deltek Costpoint Time & Expense a solution used to manage timekeeping and expense reporting. Ensure the system supports DCAAcompliant practices and provides visibility into labor costs and project expenditures.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and forecasts.
  • Partner closely with Space Programs and the Business Office to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project costs revenue recognition and contract profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation of incurred cost submissions audits and other reporting to government agencies.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to support growth scalability and internal controls.
  • Provide financial leadership and insights to the CEO and executive team to support strategic planning and decisionmaking.
  • Manage external audit and banking relationships and support potential fundraising and investor relations efforts as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field; CPA or MBA a plus.
  • 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience including 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Significant experience with U.S. government contractor accounting including compliance with FAR CAS and DCAA.
  • Handson experience managing cost accounting payroll and fullcycle financial operations in a projectbased or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Deltek Costpoint including Time & Expense modules and their role in supporting government contract compliance and labor/project cost tracking.
  • Knowledge of PrimePay / SyncHR payroll HCM System helpful
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including proficiency with pivot tables VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP Power Query complex formulas data validation and financial modeling; able to build dynamic dashboards perform multidimensional variance analysis and streamline large data sets for forecasting budgeting and audit support.
  • Exceptional leadership communication and organizational skills.
  • High integrity with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail.
  • Passion for space technology and working in a fastpaced entrepreneurial environment.

Salary

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance business objectives and the candidates professional experience. Base salary is just one component of Astrobotics competitive total rewards strategy.
