Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Success and Academic Innovation the Director develops the teaching and learning portfolio of the Center and works closely with the Associate Vice President of Instructional Technology & Design Services to oversee the planning implementation and financial management of the centers initiatives. The Director identifies opportunities to drive inclusive pedagogical practices faculty communitybuilding and innovation in the classroom and curriculum. Additionally this position regularly assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of the CTAIs programs adjusting its operations as necessary.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and lead initiatives that facilitate faculty engagement in collaborative and interdisciplinary practices such as creating learning communities and research opportunities in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
Oversee spaces both in person and online for faculty to share teaching resources engage in pedagogical discussions and participate in professional development opportunities.
Organize professional development opportunities for faculty including seminars conferences and workshops. Identify critical areas for improving student outcomes and design professional development programs to help faculty address those student needs.
Create and oversee spaces where faculty can receive strategic guidance from their peers instructional designers and technologists on how to design engaging and inclusive courses across different teaching modalities.
Advance interdisciplinary and inclusive teaching as well as crossdepartmental integration of new pedagogical and technological expertise by organizing collaborative spaces and events.
Oversee assessment and evaluation programming for faculty implementing and maintaining processes that provide faculty with both datainformed and qualitative feedback on their teaching.
Work with the AVP to stay informed about new educational AI tools. Create opportunities for teachers to experiment with AI in the classroom to enhance student learning improve student outcomes and optimize instructional time.
Manage and allocate funding to support initiatives related to innovative teaching practices instructional design SoTL and technology integration in the classroom.
Ensure that the development of the Center is conducted in a manner that is economically and structurally efficient.
Conduct datainformed and qualitative analyses to assess the effectiveness of CTAIs initiatives measuring improvements in terms of both faculty excellence and student outcomes.
Adjust the centers structure methods and strategies as needed to ensure the delivery of the centers intended results.
Actively collaborate with different academic departments faculty members and institutional leaders to ensure the CTAIs efforts are advancing universitywide goals related to faculty and student excellence.
Regularly engage with the campuswide community.
Generate ideas for improving student outcomes and elevating faculty excellence specifically ideas for facultyled teaching programs that cultivate a culturally socioemotionally and technologically adaptable institution.
Lead the development and implementation of CTAIs initiatives and resources ensuring they align with Montclairs mission and values as well as our objectives for the program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in higher education pedagogy education instructional design and/or instructional technology or related field.
Minimum of five years of experience leading in an academic setting preferably with experience leading initiatives focused on improving teaching and learning practices.
Proven success in undergraduate and/or graduatelevel teaching with a demonstrated commitment to advancing innovative pedagogy.
Ability to build and maintain effective networks across departments offices institutions and individuals to achieve shared goals and advance a shared mission.
Proven track record of leading or contributing to initiatives that support success and equitable outcomes for diverse faculty and student populations.
PREFERRED:
A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in higher education pedagogy education instructional design and/or instructional technology or related field.
Minimum of three years of experience as a fulltime faculty member.
Extensive experience with effective teaching practices especially in regard to curriculum and syllabus design technology integration and collaborative and interdisciplinary learning.
Profound understanding of the challenges faced in the modernday classroom.
Experience creating implementing and managing faculty and professional development programs and/or instructional support services.
Demonstrated skill collecting and analyzing data to evaluate a programs effectiveness and implement datainformed improvements to achieve goals and build sustainable success.
Experience managing and allocating funding to support academic initiatives preferably initiatives focused on faculty and professional development technology integration and design and pedagogical innovation. Ability to optimize outcomes and use of resources in tandem.
