Job Description

Job Title:Level 2 Technician

Reports to:Director for Network & Technology Services

Dept.:Technology Services

Exemption Status:NonExempt

Pay Grade: CP7

Work Calendar: 226 Days

Primary Purpose:Assist campuses and endusers by providing onsite support to deploy configure and repair technology equipment and software applications throughout the district.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Drivers License
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • A certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong IT system and application problem solving as well as analytical skills to resolve technical challenges
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Apple and Google Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP networks
  • Experience working with various computer hardware components
  • Experience configuring desktop software application packages
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a special focus on customer service

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Updates and resolves work orders in a timely manner.
  • Deploys and configures computers and peripherals throughout the district.
  • Troubleshoot diagnose configure and repair software and equipment including computers networks printers and A/V systems.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information timely accurately and clearly.
  • Services equipment and maintains accurate records of established preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Installs and tests network cabling.
  • Participates in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including utilizing tools lifting climbing and carrying.
  • Complies with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy.
  • Follows procedures outlined in Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • All duties must performed on site.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As assigned by Director for Network & Technology Services

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals; small truck or van. Reliable personal vehicle needed for work related travel between district facilities.

Posture:Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting.

Motion:Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension reaching; may climb ladders.

Lifting:Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over).

Environment:Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; May be required to be oncall 24 hours a day. Work must performed onsite
