Job Description

Salary:Currently $49638.36$92138.12 (DOE) prorated based upon FTE still being negotiated for. Plus 4% of base stipend prorated based upon FTE.

Insurance:Generous Health dental and vision contribution from the district currently up to $2202 (based upon family coverage) prorated based upon FTE TBD for.

PERS Retirement:The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

Job Title: Instructional Coach (.5 FTE)

Location: Klamath Union High School

Reports To: Principal

Job Summary:

The Instructional Coach serves as a collaborative nonevaluative mentor who supports teachers in improving classroom practices to enhance student learning and academic achievement. This parttime position (0.5 FullTime Equivalent) focuses on coaching strategies that foster effective instructional practices studentcentered teaching use of technology classroom management and datainformed instruction. The Instructional Coach partners with both new and experienced teachers to provide individualized guidance facilitate professional growth and build capacity in alignment with school improvement goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Teacher Mentorship & Coaching

  • Provide oneonone and group coaching to teachers on instructional strategies classroom management and curriculum implementation.
  • Support lesson planning differentiation and alignment with state standards.
  • Model effective teaching practices including active learning strategies and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Conduct classroom observations followed by reflective feedback sessions using tools such as SibMe.
  • Guide teachers in analyzing student data from LMS (Canvas) and SIS (Synergy) to inform instruction and improve outcomes.

Professional Development & Collaboration

  • Design and deliver relevant professional learning workshops based on identified teacher needs.
  • Support teachers in developing and achieving professional growth goals.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to align coaching with schoolwide initiatives.
  • Foster a professional learning community built on trust reflection and continuous improvement.

Technology & Data Systems Support

  • Mentor teachers on the effective use of the Learning Management System (Canvas) and Student Information System (Synergy).
  • Support the integration of digital tools into lesson delivery and assessment practices.
  • Assist teachers with data analysis to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

Instructional Leadership

  • Stay current with educational best practices standards and researchbased strategies.
  • Encourage innovation and the integration of crossdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Support new teacher onboarding and induction through structured mentoring and regular checkins.

Areas of Focus for Coaching:

  • Classroom Management: Behavior expectations transitions engagement and positive reinforcement.
  • Instructional Strategies: Planning differentiation active learning assessments and questioning.
  • StudentCentered Teaching: Rapport motivation culturally responsive instruction inclusive environment.
  • Communication: Student/parent communication collaboration with colleagues and clear instructional delivery.
  • Technology Integration: LMS (Canvas) SIS (Synergy) digital tools grading and feedback systems.
  • Curriculum & Standards: Alignment adaptation interdisciplinary integration.
  • Professionalism & Wellness: Ethical standards time management stress management worklife balance.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License.
  • Minimum of 35 years of successful classroom teaching experience (secondary level preferred).
  • Experience mentoring or coaching teachers preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal leadership and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of effective instructional strategies curriculum assessment and technology integration.
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS and Synergy SIS preferred.

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • Flexible scheduling to support staff during prep time PLCs and professional development.
  • Collaborative work with teachers administrators and instructional teams.
  • Attend coaching meetings district training and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a growthoriented supportive approach with all staff.
