A Brief Overview

Responsible to monitor the workflow and productivity of the Processing staff members. Ensures that patient care products are decontaminated assembled and sterilized according to Infection Control and Quality Assurance parameters.

What you will do

  • Responsible for ensuring Infection Control guidelines are followed in decontamination assembly sterilization and distribution procedures.
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Quality Assurance Department or as may be required by law.
  • Maintains clinical competency in order to serve as a resource to staff and to participate in staff assignments as needed.
  • Assists with coordinating daily work assignments to maximize departmental efficiency.
  • Comprehends and interprets Avera policies and procedures.
  • Supervises orientates and evaluates job performance of Sterile Processing Technicians. Keeps manager informed of personnel issues or concerns.
  • Utilizes computer for required informational access communication with supervisor staff members customers compiling unit productivity data and reporting and developing workflow guidelines.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. These requirements and those listed above are representative of the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • Associates or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school or six months to one year of related experience and/or training
