General Purpose:
As part of a highfunctioning care team and an integralpart of the leadership team the Director of Environmental Services isresponsible establishing systems directing and overseeing all aspects of housekeeping andlaundry services for the facility; with a strong focus on infection control andthe safety of our Residents. The Director of Environmental Servicesreports to the facility Administrator.
Essential Job Functions
This facility/community expects their employees to promotean atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort forits residents. Therefore the following list of duties is not allinclusive:
Housekeeping& Laundry Job Duties
- Organize and assign all housekeepingtasks so that the workload is evenly divided among housekeeping personnel onthe basis of size and physical layout of the facility.
- Develop and supervise a dailycleaning schedule.
- Keep a regular schedule of alldaily weekly monthly seasonal and annual Housekeeping/ Laundryrequirements.
- Closely supervise work schedule tobe sure there is no overstaffing and that scheduled staff is used efficientlyand effectively.
- Maintain a facility that is neat inappearance and odor free at all times.
- Assist the housekeeping/ laundrystaff in the completion of work assignments as needed.
- Develop and supervise a schedule forspecial cleaning such as windows walls curtains stripping floors washingbeds etc.
- Fill in as needed for staffincluding days off vacations and callins.
- Follow checklists to see thatemployees are carrying out their departmental duties.
Leadership
- Supervise laundry and housekeeping operations and employees
- Maintain compliance with Federal State and Local codes and laws.
- Provide coaching mentoring and performance management to your staff.
- Interview and make recommendations for hiring decisions of staff.
- Provide training and orientation to new staff.
- Attend department supervisor meetings and participate on required committees.
- Manage budgets and supplies and fulfill department supervisor responsibilities.
- Participate in budget planning for the Department.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.
- Protect residents from neglect mistreatment and abuse.
- Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Organized and detailed in work performance.
- Good communication skills with excellent selfdiscipline and patience.
- Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
- Strong ability to lead staff and/or provide strong leadership within the facility.
