Role description:

Arcadis has an immediate need for an Asbestos Building Inspector on an asneeded basis on our Regulated Building Material and Industrial Hygiene team in theSeattle/Portland role includes performing field work for asbestos such as inspections abatement monitoring/oversight air sampling and onsite analysis. Additional tasks may also include indoor air quality (IAQ)/mold investigations building characterization assessments and report position requires candidate to have a validEPA AHERA Building Inspector asbestos credential. The location will be based out of either ourSeattle orPortland offices with project sites throughout the greaterPacific Northwest area. This position will require anywhere between 8 to 16hours of availability per week. Project specific training will be provided by Arcadis as needed.

Role accountabilities:

  • Routinely interact/communicate with Arcadis project managers and leaders; abatement contractors; consultants; and client personnel to ensure on time and satisfactory performance on projects.
  • Manage and selfperform tasks associated with inspections/surveys and abatement monitoring for asbestos mold (water intrusion) IAQ and other regulated building materials at a variety of facilities including but not limited to: commercial public schools financial retail industrial chemical manufacturing oil/gas electrical etc.
  • Provide detailed written and/or electronic project field notes sampling summaries for work conducted.
  • Travel to project locations in the greaterPacific Northwest area on a daily basis. Also travel longer distances with the potential for overnight stays as required.
  • Employees are expected to be flexible as work hours may include nights and weekends or extended work beyond 8 hours depending on the project.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Problemsolving skills: able to identify problems and implement corrective processes.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned work and contribute to the success of the team. This includes the ability selfperform work prioritize schedule communicate with project team as needed produce on time high quality documentation and be responsive to phone and email requests
  • The willingness to learn new digital technologies for field services
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment over the duration of a work shift
  • Must be able to climb and descend a ladder
  • A valid drivers license clean driving record is required.
  • Must be able to clear background check pass medical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator
  • Ability to work on teams as well as independently with minimal direct supervision

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • 1 to 2 years minimum experience in consulting environment withasbestos hazardous building materials management indoor air quality mold evaluations and ventilation system assessments.
  • EPA AHERA Building Inspector Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene safety environmental sciences or related science or engineering fields
  • General understanding of HVAC systems building mechanical systems building construction
  • General understanding of building renovation and demolition
  • NIOSH 582 certification or equivalent certification
  • OSHA 40hour HAZWOPER
  • OSHA 30hour Construction
  • Experience with Microsoft products such as Word Excel Outlook
