The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a full time astute examiner to perform periodic inspections to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards. This position also monitors and prepares weekly meals projections resolves issues related to medical diets and medical cards for eligible inmates conducts monthly meetings and reviews and analyzes invoices for accuracy at the Arizona State Prison Complex Lewis.

Monitors and reviews contract requirements to the actual performance and delivery
Conducts periodical and random kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
Observes and inspects store operations
Prepares weekly meal projections
Reviews and analysis invoices
Serves as the liaison between the Food Service Contractor Inmate Stores Contractor and ADCRR management
Responds and initiates correspondence and appropriate documentation
Compiles and completes reports of inspection findings
Maintains performance records
Issues medical and religious diet cards to the Inmates
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
American Correctional Association standards for food services operations
Food volume preparation and delivery systems nutrition nutritional values and special diets
Health safety and sanitation codes for food/store areas and handlers along with rules and regulations pertaining to area of assignment
Auditing and statistical sampling techniques
ADCRR policies and procedures
Personal computers and associated software usage
Skill in:
Analyzing situations accurately and taking appropriate action
Time management multitasking and adapting to changing priorities
Computer software/data processing functions
Operating office equipment
Effective written and verbal communication
Ability to:
Interact professionally and establish cooperative relationships with all levels of the department and outside individuals
Monitor and evaluate food service activities
Adapt to changing situations and priorities
Maintain records
Learn and adhere to Department policies and procedures pertaining to security inmates stores and food services
Work in a prison environment
Drive and travel on State business
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in food services warehousing and/or a distribution type environment
Must have a current valid food handlers permit at time of appointment.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and a medical/physical examination.
In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R210207.11).
