Job Description

Widener University Commonwealth Law School is currently seeking an Assistant Professor of Law in the Commonwealth Law School. Reporting to Dean & Professor of Law andr douglas pond cummings this role will be a fulltime tenure track teaching position teaching primarily Legal Methods and Commercial Law courses or potentially Intellectual Property Law or First Amendment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Essential duties:

  • Serve as an active member of the Widener Law Commonwealth faculty teaching one Legal Methods course in the Fall semester and one Legal Methods course in the Spring semester
  • Will teach two of the following courses one in the Fall semester and one in the Spring semester: Sales Secured Transactions Intellectual Property Law First Amendment or related courses.
  • Meet with students during regularly scheduled office hours to provide feedback and guidance on course material
  • Will draft and publish scholarship in an area of interest and/or expertise.
  • Will serve the law school by sitting on various law school and University committees.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Eligible for Summer Research Grant and will engage in scholarship drafting and presentation during the academic year
  • May be invited to serve as a faculty advisor to student organizations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and/or PhD or its equivalent from a national or international University
  • Undergraduate degree or its equivalent

Preferred:

  • Law school teaching experience
  • Legal practice experience
  • Published scholarship in a related law field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Widener Law Commonwealth enrolls students in an Evening Division program. Evening Division classes are scheduled in the evening between the hours of 5:25 pm and 10:05 pm. All faculty agree to teach courses in the Evening Division.
