Position Description:

Eastpointe Community Schools is welcoming applicants for a Human Resources Generalist position. The HR Generalist performs all support duties required for the Human Resources Department including onboarding absence management benefits administration 3rd party/substitute payroll and leave administration under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources. This position requires a strong customer service orientation work ethic knowledge of district procedures/policies and Human Resources policies the ability to assume significant responsibility work effectively accurately and independently under pressure meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality all while interacting with employees and stakeholders.

Eastpointe Community Schools is a community under 2200 students: we are proud of our Early Learning Center four elementary schools one middle school and Secondary Campus supporting 800 students in grades 812 (an 8th Grade Academy a traditional high school setting for grades 912 and a Virtual Academy/Alternative Center).

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree in Human Resources or equivalent related experience; prior successful experience in human resources strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in schools is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds; focus on solving conflict; maintain confidentiality; listen to others without interrupting keeping emotions under control; remain open to others ideas and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students parents staff regulatory agencies or members of the community verbally in writing or email. Ability to effectively present information to directors administrators and the Superintendent. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Use district budget and accounting software for department needs. (AS400)
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in the usage of accounting database software internet software email and word processing software. Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: MS File Explorer MS Word Visions MS PowerPoint Publisher and Excel and Google platform. Understand and skillfully use online webbased programs such as: AS400 AESOP TalentED PowerSchool EduStaff ISS Standard for Success and Safe Schools. Ability to type accurately and proficiently.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with staff at all levels and others including vendors law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Ability to perform related duties that serve the schools and the district and not limited to organizing events and functions.
  • Certificates Licenses Registrations: Certificates as determined by the District including a valid Michigan Driver License.

Salary Data: $46698 $53000 based on experience plus district benefits and time off plans.
