Job Description

The State College Area School District Department of Gifted Services and Learning Enrichment is accepting applications for a fulltime Gifted Support/Learning Enrichment teacher to join its team starting the 2025/2026 school year. This is a districtwide position that will support middle and high school levels. This teacher/case manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and delivering modified instructional strategies and content to meet the needs of gifted learners.
  • Preparing and evaluating gifted individualized educational plans (GIEPs) to meet Chapter 16 guidelines.
  • Participating in the Gifted Multidisciplinary Evaluation Process (GMDE) for potentially gifted students.
  • Collaborating with the Multidisciplinary team to develop appropriate programming for identified gifted students.
  • Facilitating GIEP and GMDE (reevaluation) team meetings.
  • Collaborating with general education teachers counselors and administrators to support gifted and enrichment programming.
  • Collaborating with special education teachers and school psychologists to identify and provide gifted and enrichment programming for students who qualify as twiceexceptional students.
  • Working to develop appropriately rigorous and challenging students schedules to ensure academic peer groups.

The ability to establish relationships with students and their parents/guardians as well as collaborating with colleagues is critical to success in this position. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and recognize that equity and inclusivity are foundational to ensuringevery student has opportunities to grow thrive and fulfill their potential through caring responsive education.

The district seeks dynamic energetic flexible educators who are studentfocused and have knowledge of both theory and practice specific to the education of K12 learners. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in this position. The District is searching for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and also possess a variety of professional experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Chapters 14/16 (Special/Gifted Education) policies procedures and case management.
  • PA K12 Gifted Endorsement (or the ability and interest to obtain).
  • Experience with STEM.
  • Experience working with twiceexceptional students.
