Job Description

This is a fulltime yearround position. Eligible for holiday pay and vacation accrual

Position Summary:

The position of District Athletic Director was established for the purpose of directing and maintaining the secondary (612) athletics program and activities consistent with district league federal and state policies and administrative procedures. This position is responsible for the development implementation supervision direction and evaluation of the districts athletics program and activities. This is an administrative position that oversees the districts 612 athletic programs serves as a member of the leadership team and reports to the Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS Degree in a related field of study or an Athletic Administrator Certificate preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WIAA regulations and required trainings
  • Minimum of five years head coaching experience preferred
  • Valid drivers license and evidence of insurability
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Criminal justice FBI/WSP fingerprint background clearance
  • Willingness to live within a 25 mile radius of the school district boundaries

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Direct supervise implement and evaluate the district 612 athletic programs
  • Develops and leads implementation of the athletic program philosophy
  • Acts as a liaison between the district office and schools to support cohesive development of a 612 athletic program
  • Actively participates in the recruitment of qualified coaching staff
  • Coordinates organizes and participates in regularly scheduled program meetings
  • Confirms eligibility of athletes in collaboration with building administrators and ASB Comptroller
  • Coordinates supervision of all home athletic events in conjunction with the Events Coordinator and building administration
  • Monitors and provides oversight of W.I.A.A. eligibility status of coaches
  • Assists coaches in assessing their individual programs in relation to program objectives. Provide leadership to coaching staff in identifying program strengths and areas for growth
  • Works with coaching staff in developing goals for program improvement in keeping with district philosophy goals and guidelines
  • Coordinates and provides training opportunities for coaches
  • Schedules all athletic programs both home and away
  • Arranges all transportation for the athletic program
  • Acts as the district representative for W.I.A.A. and conference/league meetings
  • Maintains required reports and records including Title IX reporting data
  • Ensure all high school athletes are impact tested
  • Coordination and supervision of elementary 5th grade basketball program to include scheduling
  • Work closely with building administrators and MTSS staff to utilize Panorama data to support student athletes
  • Assist with daily supervision duties at the high school to build relationships with students
  1. Manages funds allocated to the district athletic program in accordance with district guidelines and athletic activities
  • Develops and manages the athletic program budget
  • Provides for the requisitioning storing issuing and inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Develops with the staff priorities for budget allocations
  • Supervises fund raising activities as needed for the athletic program
  • Coordinate budget activities and expenditures with secondary building administrators ASB advisor ASB officers and ASB comptroller
  1. Public relations and communications regarding the district 612 athletic programs and establish and maintain positive community relations
  • Provides news media with communication releases regarding the district athletic program
  • Assists coaches with building good public relations with media and provides guidance in media communications
  • Reports information concerning the athletic program to building administrators superintendent and school board
  • Acts as a liaison with community athletic groups and booster clubs
  1. Assists in the selection placement and evaluation of coaching staff following district personnel procedures and the AAAA collective bargaining agreement
  • Assists in the recruiting interviewing screening and recommending of qualified persons to fill coaching vacancies
  • Evaluates coaching staff in collaboration with principals and head coaches
  1. Schedules and coordinates use of indoor and outdoor facilities for athletic programs in coordination with the Event Coordinator building administrators and district office
  • Schedules facilities for games and practices
  • Coordinates facilities use with all schools district office and community groups.
  • Responsible for scheduling Stewart Field
  • Maintains an accurate activities calendar
  • Secures officials for athletic contests
  • Collaborates with Event Coordinator to secure game workers for athletic contests to include custodians announcers clock operators score keepers and line judges

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of pertinent laws codes policies and personnel processes
  • Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability to promote cooperation in working with staff students and public
  • Ability to schedule organize and complete work assignments to assure timely and effective completion
  • Excellent and effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with students parents school staff coaching staff media and the public
  • Maintains a positive attitude and concern for athletes and possesses good sportsmanship skills
  • Knowledge of and experience complying with equity laws
  • Ability to provide or facilitate mandated inservice training for coaching staff
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with staff students parents and the public
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
  • Ability to gather data and prepare routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and calculate figures
  • General knowledge of record keeping for ASB accounts
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow school district policies and procedures

SALARY: 2425 Central Office Administrators Salary Schedule. 2526 schedule TBD.
