General Summary
This is a fulltime 9month faculty position. Responsibilities include instruction course and curriculum development professional development service to students and service to the college and community. The faculty member will facilitate classroom instruction; evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic support; maintain attendance and grade records; advise students on academic and career goals; support student retention efforts; and maintain required classroom and office hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instruction: Teach the AESTHETICS course at the Chattanooga campus. Facilitate the classroom instructional process; evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
Course and Curriculum Development: Participate in the selection of textbooks equipment supplies and other learning resources; develop supplemental instructional materials; use current technology in preparation creation and delivery of instruction; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi; develop and maintain a site on the colleges Learning Management System (eLearn) platform where class documents are stored (syllabi classroom information quizzes tests etc.) and available for students to access at any time.
Professional Growth: Remain current within instructional field and technologies; acquire maintain and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and inservice activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising recruitment admissions and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement upon graduation; support student activities including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
Service to the College and Community: Assist in recruitment; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; complete the annual Council on Occupational Education (COE) report for the program. Perform other duties as assigned.
Holistic Student Support
Familiarity with holistic support for students outside the classroom. These supports include Admissions and Records Enrollment Service Center TCAT Student Services High School Programs Recruiting and Orientation Career Services Student Support Center Student Conduct Student Life Multicultural and International Services Adult Student Services and the Center for Access and Disability Services.
Ensure that services and activities promote accessibility and reflect equityminded practices.
Organizational Culture
Provides student and communityfocused support in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Division that aligns with the Colleges core values.
Supports the Colleges commitment to creating a welcoming and respectful environment and contributes to the TCAT Divisions efforts to implement effective and thoughtful practices.
Offers responsive and consistent services and support for students faculty and staff.
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
Demonstrate teaching excellence by using evidencebased instructional practices that support student learning.
Actively adapt test and refine instructional approaches that align with Chattanooga States campus environment.
Design student experiences that promote access engagement and meaningful participation in academic campus life and cocurricular activities.
Position Requirements
Education: Graduate from a postsecondary institution with a diploma in Aesthetics or Cosmetology
Licensure: Possess a current Tennessee Aesthetics or Cosmetology license. Possess or be willing to acquire an instructors license.
Experience: Three years experience as an aesthetician.
Preferred Requirements:
Associates degree and fulltime teaching experience
More than 3 years progressive experience in the Aesthetics/Cosmetology field
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the Aesthetics industry and Aesthetics license processes; highly effective communication skills; high level of computer skills; willing to work extra hours to support college and community events.

Demonstrates a high level of selfdiscipline and selfmotivation.
Exudes a positive supportive and cooperative disposition towards others.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Fulltime faculty position 9month employment contract requires a fourday workweek and includes a minimum of 37 1/2 hours per week. Other conditions of employment are described in the Chattanooga State Employee Handbook.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and according to salary guidelines of the Tennessee Board of Regents.
