The School Librarian serves as an integral instructional partner in the educational program of a public elementary/intermediate school supporting students in grades 4 through 6. This role focuses on developing students research skills information literacy and appreciation of literature. The librarian ensures access to a diverse and inclusive collection teaches source citation and ethical use of information and provides expert guidance tailored to readers at varied levels and Responsibilities:Instruction and Curriculum SupportPlan and deliver instruction on research processes source evaluation notetaking and citation methods (e.g. MLA or simplified school format).Teach lessons on media literacy digital citizenship and safe online with classroom teachers to coteach or support projectbased learning units and integrate library skills into core differentiated instruction to meet the varied needs of students including those with IEPs or ELL Program ManagementSelect acquire and maintain a current diverse and engaging collection aligned with state and district and supervise daily operations of the library including cataloging inventory and circulation using the districts library management reading through book talks reading challenges author visits and schoolwide and oversee student or parent volunteers as Engagement and Literacy DevelopmentFoster a welcoming inclusive library environment that encourages curiosity critical thinking and independent students with appropriate reading materials that reflect their interests reading levels and cultural struggling and advanced readers through targeted recommendations and Collaboration and ComplianceParticipate in school and district professional learning communities and curriculum compliance with district policies and state library/media accurate records and report on library usage budget and for the role of the school library in student and run the student newspaper.
