POSITION: (2) Middle School Science TeacherThe successful candidate will possess the appropriate Massachusetts Educators License and SEI endorsement. Job Description:Under the direction of the School Principal the Science Teacher assesses plans and provides engaging learning experiences in Science for students in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating a dynamic and inclusive science education program that fosters science activity creativity and appreciation ensuring that students develop fundamental science skills while engaging with diverse styles and traditions. The science teacher supports students in developing their abilities to the fullest extent possible through differentiated instruction handson experiences and a supportive learning :The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of: the necessary principles and application of theory into practice for effective instruction and positive behavioral supports that are beneficial for implementation with all students with disabilities; MA content curriculum frameworks and instructional techniques; human behavior development and skill performance; individual differences in ability personality and interests; learning and motivation; the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders; and Ralph C. Mahar Regional policies and effective instructional practices. The Science Teacher also demonstrates the ability to provide positive behavioral support to students in a group and in an individual setting; demonstrates an understanding of the federal state and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services; completes observations and reports pertaining to learning behaviors of students; displays the ability to work effectively with administrators colleagues central office and school based staff students parents and community members. Instruction & Curriculum ImplementationDevelop and deliver engaging science instruction aligned with Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum a range of science courses including Physical Science Biology Chemistry Physics Environmental Science and elective STEM instruction to meet diverse learning needs and handson labs experiments and inquirybased learning to promote scientific realworld applications technology and engineering concepts to enhance student & Laboratory ManagementCreate a positive structured and inclusive learning environment that supports student clear expectations for student participation safety and academic an organized safe and wellequipped laboratory space ensuring proper use and storage of materials and and enforce safety procedures for all lab activities and & DataDriven InstructionDesign and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student assessment data to inform instruction identify learning gaps and implement targeted students for state and national assessments such as MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) and AP science exams (if applicable).Collaboration & Professional DevelopmentWork collaboratively with colleagues school leadership and district science coordinators to align instructional regularly with students parents and guardians regarding student progress and in professional development department meetings and curriculum planning & School ResponsibilitiesAdhere to state and district policies including grading assessment and accommodations for students with IEPs and 504 all safety regulations and procedures for handling chemicals equipment and hazardous assigned duties such as supervising students during school events lunch or dismissal as teacher must: Possess a Bachelors DegreeHave excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and ethical and reliable and meets routine responsibilities knowledge and understanding of child growth and development effective instructional strategies classroom management learning assessment and diagnosis elementary/early childhood assessments in mathematics and literacy and researchrelated to learning and best practicesExhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students staff administration parents and the the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing data management information retrieval visual and audio presentations and telecommunications. 5. Possess knowledge and demonstrate understanding of all required components of the Individualized Education Program(IEP). 6. Possess the SEI RETELL Endorsement for Educators (ELL) 7. Skilled with GSuite for Education 8. Must have a current Massachusetts Teaching License in Teacher of Middle School Science 58Physical Requirement: Position requires light work exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally and/or ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move hearing handeye coordination/mindeye coordination; intermittent keyboarding and telephoning.
