RECRUITMENT CULTIVATION & DIVERSITY PROGRAMS (RCD)

Recruitment Cultivation & Diversity Programs (RCD) resides in the Office of Human Resources. This is a division of the Office of the Superintendent to ensure that the district places the elimination of disparities particularly racial disparities at the center of all of our instructional and operational work.Recruitment Cultivation & Diversity Programs (RCD) combines cultivation pipeline development and diversity programs to better support candidates and employees throughout their careers. RCD is committed to developing preparing and retaining a racially ethnically culturally and linguistically diverse group of highly effective and culturally proficient teachers and staff members every year. We continue to focus our efforts on three key levers for our work: 1) Recruit and Develop employees 2) Cultivation 3) and Retain employees. These levers remain at the center of our strategy for mitigating teacher attrition and sustaining the retention of our teachers of color.

BPS TEACHER PIPELINE PROGRAMS

One of the nations only locally embedded growyourown models of teacher preparation BPSs Teacher Pipeline Programs (BPSTPP) is part of the larger strategy of the RCD program to address the demand for highly qualified equityminded and racially literate early childhood elementary and secondary school teachers for Bostons classroom. The overarching goal of the BPSTPP is to support racially linguistically and culturally diverse teachers by providing a coherent pathway from provisional to initial licensure with an emphasis on culturally responsive and Universally Designed Learning experiences that increase equity and access to academic success for our districts historically underserved populations. This goal is achieved through culturally affirming coursework intensive and individualized mentoring and advising and support for Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). We also offer hiring support to our aspiring teachers in the Bilingual Educator/Accelerated Community to Teacher (BE/ACTT) program. We have three programs two of which are part of our stateapproved educator preparation programming. The BE/ACTT is year one of the learning to teach process where aspiring teachers engage in culturally and linguistically responsive coursework content methods courses SEI endorsement coursework MTEL and hiring support. The BPS Teaching Fellowship coaches and mentors first year BPS teachers of record through the states required cycles of prepracticum and practicum experiences continues MTEL support and offers more coursework.BPSTPPs core belief is that the next generation of Bostons teachers are in the schools and in the communities of Boston right now permeates all of the work we do.

GEORGE B. COX FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW

The George B. Cox Equity in Urban Education Fellowship (EUEF) was named in honor of a beloved educator leader writer mentor and advocate for Bostons children and families. In memory his collegemate Charles Yancey who later served as a Boston City Councilor remembered George Cox as a dedicated warrior for human rights high quality integrated education diversity and justice. He fought against racism sexism intolerance and discrimination. He was strategic in his approach and he was a strong mentor to many young people in our country. The George B. Cox Fellowships are designed to develop recent graduates and earlycareer professionals into leaders in their fields and communities. This is a twoyear fulltime program expressly designed to prepare future leaders by immersing them in teams committed to designing delivering and evaluating strategic innovative solutions to complex challenges in Urban Educational Equity. Preference will be give to BPS alums and/or Boston residents who participated in the METCO program

RESPONSIBILITIES

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

The primary duties and responsibilities of this role will be to develop cultivate and sustain an overall marketing strategy for the BPS TPP MTEL Prep and Retention Programs in general. The BE/ACTT and the BPSTF are successful programs with growing admission rates each year. However there are many competing programs in the greater Boston area that crowd the field of teacher preparation in the BPS. Additionally we are building a third program which will offer a . and will center bilingual inclusive education. For these two reasons we need to develop a clear and cogent marketing strategy to ensure that all BPS educators understand that these programs are affordable and importantly accessible to them. To achieve this goal we are seeking someone with strong ability to enact the following:

  • Analyze the strengths and needs of all BPS TPP Retention and MTEL Prep programs and develop a sound marketing strategy that will effectively communicate and recruit candidates Fellows and residents to our respective BPS TPP programs and increase staff awareness of MTEL Prep and Retention Programs.
  • Execute marketing and communications efforts which include ensuring a consistent accurate and compelling web presence including social media; development of marketing materials (i.e. brochures flyers web pages packets for partners/funders); supporting district Communications department with press releases
  • Create program materials including PowerPoint presentations marketing materials handouts incorporating strong design and brand elements newsletters and testimonials for each BPS TPP program MTEL Prep and Retention Program.

The secondary duties of this role are described below:

PROGRAM SUPPORT & COMMUNICATION

  • Provide operations and project management support as needed for the execution of the BPS TPP programs including tracking deliverables and progress towards desired outcomes
  • Draft and manage routine communications to BPS TPP candidates Fellows and residents
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for communications and program deadlines
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Compile manage and maintain spreadsheets graphs reports based on data collected; assist in grant and district monitoring requirements by providing reports as requested by the Managing Director and/or Director
  • Facilitate data analysis for program reporting to include recruitment program participant performance and hiring data to drive program improvement and monitor progress towards goals

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing Communications or related field
  • Early Career Professional
  • Experience with building marketing and communications strategies preferably for new programs
  • Strong program or project management experience with extraordinary attention to detail professionalism ability to organize plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously demonstrated experience in developing spreadsheets and reports/ database management (Excel Google sheets)
  • Interest in analyzing and interpreting quantitative data and diverse information and to make recommendations based on the findings specifically using Excel and/or Access Strong skills in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint; Google Suite; proficiency in developing/maintaining websites
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly proposing and implementing thoughtful solutions
  • Very strong interpersonal skills ability to develop good relationships and network with various populations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to work as part of an active team work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects prioritizing daily activities
  • Possesses growth mindset actively seeks and uses feedback to improve performance
  • Current authorization to work in the United States Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Masters Degree in the field of education business or related field
  • Experience in design layout branding
  • Wiki space management experience
  • Knowledge of or experience with grant administration
  • Experience in office coordination in a large organization
  • Experience working in or with schools/districts
  • Bilingual or multilingual
