POSITION TITLE: Middle School .6 French Teacher
LOCATION: Galvin Middle School Wakefield MA
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: OneYear Position
SALARY: Per Contract
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wakefield Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic studentcentered French teacher at the Galvin Middle School effective September 1 2025. Candidates will be responsible for teaching French to grades 58. Interested individuals should demonstrate the ability to design and facilitate engaging lessons that incorporate communicative activities authentic resources and comprehensible input as effective instructional strategies to support language and intercultural proficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement engaging units of study that align with the ACTFL Core Practices and the Massachusetts World Language Standards ensuring students acquire language skills through meaningful realworld contexts.
- Promote cultural awareness and appreciation by facilitating collaborative student discourse and activities that explore diverse global perspectives.
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that addresses the unique learning styles abilities and emotional needs of all students.
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate students progress and proficiency providing actionable feedback to support their growth.
- Work closely with fellow world language educators to develop common assessments analyze student data and refine instructional strategies for continuous improvement.
- Maintain clear communication with parents administrators and students regarding course objectives expectations and individual progress.
- Fulfill teacher responsibilities including attending professional development opportunities and contributing to the broader educational community.
The position requires the ability to communicate verbally and visually; while performing the duties of this job the teacher is frequently required to move about a classroom talk and hear.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in 58 French
- Classroom teaching experience in a middle school or relevant student teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of state and national standards and understanding of researchbased best practices in world language teaching
- Use technology and multiple resources to enhance student learning
- Ability to work well on a team and collaborate to best meet the needs of students
- Have a desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback and a commitment to professional learning
