This position reports to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and works with management consultants end users and information technology personnel on projects to set direction and priorities for UMMMC through decision support. This position is required to perform a variety of duties related to acquiring and managing data developing and maintaining Tableau and dashboards and supporting performance improvement projects and educational activities. Responsible for development of project timelines performs analyses identifies potential solutions and collaborates with others to develop best practice recommendations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying querying analyzing and visualizing data through reports and presentations a variety of data to support operations quality and performance measurement initiatives in Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship.
  • Uses data mining and discovery techniques for healthcare intelligence pattern and relationship recognition.
  • Develops and implements analytical processes that allow for predictive analytics trend analyses variation analyses and provider profiling.
  • Strong experience presenting data through the building of dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools such as Tableau SQL Server and leverages other tools and technologies.
  • Queries and analyzes data from hospital systems such as our electronic medical record system (Epic) data warehouse external websites and more to produce actionable reports for internal customers.
  • Performs comprehensive quality assurance ensuring that data and reports meet end user specifications and are accurate and reliable.
  • Continually develops analytical and technical skills to support advancing and evolving functions.
  • Maintain positive working relationships demonstrate accountability promote teamwork and keep team informed of project status.
  • Lead the improvement and streamlining of processes regarding data flow storage and quality to improve data accuracy and viability and value.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field (e.g. Industrial Engineering Mathematics Computer Science or related field).
  • Current Epic certification(s) or ability to achieve within 12 months of date of hire.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Strong work ethic with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong math statistics and quantitative methods skills.
  • Has innovative approaches to problem solving with the ability to think creatively.
  • Leverage technology and collaborate at all levels of the organization. Able to translate data into actionable information.
