Morning English Connection Instructor

Position Department:Morning English Connection Instructor Workforce Development & Continuing Education

Type of Position: Parttime Salaried Exempt

Work Schedule Hours per week: Two days a week & 4 hours per day Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45am12:45pm Varies hours per week

Pay Range:$25.00 per hour and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Provide English instruction to students who are transitioning from basic lifeskill English classes into GEDlevel academic coursework college transition or higher career placement. Instruction will be in reading grammar writing vocabulary development civics and digital literacy at an intermediate to lowadvanced level. Development of daily lesson plans to keep student attention adhere to state and local academic standards and increase student success. Facilitate standardized testing for benchmarking. Engage community volunteers to assist with oneonone instruction with learners. Create reports and maintain records. Participate in professional development events.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree 2 years experience
Strong English skills
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
Demonstrated ability to improve learner academic skills
Proficient capability using Microsoft Office Suite Google Classroom

Preferred Qualifications: Elementary or Secondary Education degree
Experience teaching nonnative speakers
Experience teaching reading grammar and writing
Demonstrated ability to coach and instruct adult nonnative students.
Understanding of the unique needs of adult nonnative students
