Job Description

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction Special Education or closely related field is required
  • Professional teaching experience is required
  • Experience working directly with children in a classroom setting is required
  • The ideal candidate has a terminal degree (e.g. PhD JD EdD)
  • Previous experience mentoring preservice teachers is highly desirable
  • Professional experience teaching at the early childhood elementary and/or secondary levels is highly desirable

All employees of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) are required to complete training on policies and procedures administered by the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) under the supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Institutional Equity/Title IX Coordinator. Required training includes: understanding and reporting conduct prohibited by the sexual misconduct protected class nondiscrimination and conflicts of interest in cases of amorous relationships policies related retaliation and compliance with accommodations regarding disability pregnancy or related conditions and religion. All employees are also designated as responsible employees and are required to report conduct prohibited under these policies. Additionally when a person discloses a pregnancy or related condition to an employee that employee must provide that person with the Title IX Coordinators contact information and inform the person that the Title IX Coordinator can coordinate specific actions to ensure that persons equal access to the universitys education programs or activities. Salary:Generally $1000 per credit hour. Supervision courses are 3 6 or 12 credits. Supervisionloads less than 12 students will be prorated. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

TheCollege of Educationat the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool ofLecturersin the Department ofTeaching and Learning from which future appointments of temporary nontenure track positions for supervising teacher candidates in field placements will be made. Appointments are parttime (less than 50% time) and will be made semesterbysemester. Temporary lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. Temporary lecturer appointments will accrue sick leave.

Qualified applicants will be placed in the department pool and will be considered for parttime departmental needs to supervise student teacher candidates in Inclusive Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Secondary Education and Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The majority of student teacher supervision occurs inperson. Due to specific location and programming some student teacher candidates however may require hybrid or remote supervision.

This is an evergreen Lecturer Pool for the Department of Teaching and Learning at UCCS. Applications will be reviewed on a semesterbysemester basis as business needs arise.

Because this appointment is temporary in nature you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to faculty under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs. You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave medical or retirement benefits. However you are eligible to accrue sick leave at 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.
