POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Public Works Account Clerk II

City of The Dalles

Closing Date: Open Until Filled First Review June 2 2025

DEFINITION: The Public Works Account Clerk II provides skilled accounting and administrative support for the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include entering purchase orders coding and forwarding invoices assisting with budget preparation supporting utility billing and performing a variety of clerical and customer service tasks. This position requires attention to detail strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Caselle financial software. The Account Clerk II works closely with department staff and the Finance Department to ensure accurate financial tracking and efficient office operations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Minimum Requirements: Any combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. A typical way to obtain this knowledge skills and abilities would be:

Education: Associate degree in accounting or a related field preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience may substitute for the degree requirement. Proficiency with 10key calculators computerized record keeping and spreadsheet applications. Training or experience with electronic word processing and accounting systems.

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES: Valid Drivers License required at the time of hire.

PAY: Effective July 1 2025 the salary range for this position is $56084.49 to $66967.82 annually depending on qualifications and experience. The City offers a generous benefits package that includes medical dental vision insurance as well as employerpaid retirement contributions equal to 13.5% of base wage after one year of employment.
