Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Provide ongoing medical direction for MCHS Ambulance Service (6000161) Flambeau Hospital Ambulance (6000989) and select Rice Lake area emergency medical services.

This position is open to all locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Act as ongoing Medical Director for services including but not limited to:

MCHS Ambulance Service (6000161)

Flambeau Hospital Ambulance (6000989)

  • Maintain responsibilities for medical direction per DHS 110.49:

  • Prescribe and assist with development of patient care protocols

  • Ensure online medical control physicians provide appropriate direction with approved patient care protocols

  • Ensure all aspects are under medical supervision

  • Assist with implementation and execution of quality assurance and continuous improvement programs

  • Approve limit suspend or revoke credentials as provided under DHS 110.53

  • Maintain liaison with regional medical communities

  • Approve direct and assist in training activities and training plans.

  • Assist in development of skill proficiency requirements for all staff at appropriate skill level

  • QA/QI for all associated services.

  • State EMS Elicensing and Operational Plans including correspondence with State EMS office.

  • Regular meetings with MCHS leadership teams.

  • Protocol development and implementation.

  • Annual skills recertification for all associated services.

  • Educational topic presentations utilizing power point and skills demonstrations.

  • Medication and oxygen prescriptions for EMS services.

  • Ongoing communication with all services overseen regarding questions/concerns related to prehospital patient care issues and interactions.

  • Provide instruction for EMS Service skills for appropriate service level

Physician may designate subject to Hospital Medical Director approval a suitable physician to act as his/her designee to perform the job functions in periods of the Physicians shortterm absence not to exceed 30 days. Maintain open communication with MCHS Ambulance Services leadership teams. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills knowledge and abilities to perform within scope role specific functions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.).

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Minimum two years experience as physician

Preferred/Optional: Emergency medicine experience or EMS fellowship

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s) certification(s) registration(s) etc. are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

  • Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Medical Specialties (AOBMS)

  • Current and Unrestricted Applicable State MD/DO License

Member in good standing of Marshfield Clinic Health System Medical Staff Office
