The audiology department at Texas Hearing Institute isseeking highly motivated Doctor of Audiology students to complete anexciting and challenging fourthyear externship in pediatrics. This fulltimeexternship will provide doctoral students with opportunities to learn aboutdisorders of hearing in childhood participate as a member of aninterdisciplinary team and develop the clinical skills necessary to enter theprofessional world as a pediatric audiologist.
PEDIATRIC HEARING ASSESSMENT AND TECHNOLOGY
At Texas Hearing Institute we specialize in diagnostictesting to rule out or identify hearing loss in children. When hearing loss isidentified we collaborate with caregivers using a familycentered approach todetermine optimal intervention and/or treatment options. Texas HearingInstitute audiology protocols are current evidencebased and follow best practices.
MELINDA WEBB SCHOOL
The Melinda Webb School (MWS) is located onsite withinTexas Hearing Institute and is an auditoryoral school for students who are 18months old through 6 years of age. Audiology externs assist MWS staff withtroubleshooting and daily listening checks of personal hearing technology andHAT.

Passing Praxis Score
The student or selected extern must submit proof of a passingPraxis score prior to your projected externship start date of June 1 2026.
Additional Instructions:
1. Applications that are late or incomplete will not be considered. Thestudent is responsible for ensuring all materials have been materials will not be returned.
2. Once your application materials have been received you may becontacted for an initial phone interview.
3. Following those initial phone interviews you will be notified ifyou have been selected for an inperson and/or a Zoom interview with theAudiology team.
4. Once an offer is made you will have fourdays to accept the offer. All offerswill be extended and finalized prior to Friday November 7 2025.
