Noblis MSDs mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions to enable research development test and evaluation acquisition engineering systems integration inservice and fleet engineering with cybersecurity comprehensive logistics and lifecycle savings. This position is for an entry level machinery controls system engineer. The main function of the candidate will be to provide troubleshooting testing and lifecycle support of fielded Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer. This includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support.

Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes but is not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting complex problems of all variants of fielded systems (microprocessor based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard
  • Review of technical documentation related to all variants of fielded systems and future fielded systems
  • Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES
  • Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBES
  • Provide technical input to the design of future MCS systems
  • Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of fielded systems and future fielded systems
  • Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree and 0 to 3 years experience or a HS Diploma and 9 years of professional experience in a technical field.

  • Prior Navy shipboard experience and training specifically for electricalbased systems preferred.
  • Prior experience with industrial control systems a plus (PLCs etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation such as drawings diagrams technical manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to perform technical work with minimal oversight required.
  • Successful applicants must be a US Citizen with active government security clearance (DoD Secret) or the ability to obtain a clearance.
  • Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.

Physical Requirements include the ability to:

  • Lift and carry (with assistance) up to 50 pounds
  • Access and maintain equipment located in confined spaces
  • Ascend/descend ramps/ladders/stairs and work comfortably at varying heights
  • Reach overhead to handle install position and move materials
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks while crouching stooping and kneeling
  • Work in environments with temperature fluctuations including both hot and cold conditions
  • Sustain physical activity for extended periods as well as maintaining balance
  • See details at close range at a distance and from side to side
  • Detect alarms and respond to auditory signals effectively is requirement

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience tracing signals and troubleshooting diagnosing and isolating cause for electrical failures and anomalies
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams
  • Proficiency in the use of test tools associated with test and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with control system troubleshooting (i.e. multimeter oscilloscope signal generator etc)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Proficient in basic computer/laptop use including advanced operations
  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools
  • Basic technical writing ability
  • Ability to selfmotivate and complete tasks efficiently
  • Ability to communicate effectively within an integrated team environment includingability to liaise confidently and professionally with a diverse range of people
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors including but not limited to the combination of education certifications knowledge skills competencies and experience internal and external equity location clearance level as well as contractspecific affordability organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this positionis based on full time status. For part time or oncall staff compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important its just one component of Noblis total compensation package.
