Purpose Statement
The job of Maintenance General is done for the purpose/s of performs general maintenance installations and/or repairs to buildings and equipment maybe assigned to a high school site and/or districtwide; assists other trades in connection with construction and mechanical repair including plumbing painting carpentry masonry metal work glazing tile work roofing flooring and welding.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in general maintenance; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information to others; and understand complex multistep written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; and codes policies regulations and/or laws pertaining to general maintenance.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific jobrelated data; and utilize a wide variety of types of jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; displaying mechanical aptitude; and setting priorities; adhering to district policies; and regular attendance except when taking approved leave.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organizations services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling frequent climbing and balancing frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting 50% walking and 30% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience Job related experience is required.
Education High school diploma or equivalent.
