You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThis position provides supervision and assistance to students while maintaining student discipline in various campus settings and on District and surrounding grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate regular and acceptable attendance and punctuality.
Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant District Board policies administrative regulations and building rules.
Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students staff parents and community members and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
Work independently and cooperatively in teams with other staff members and students.
Attends inservice and workshop training; applying training to instructional responsibilities.
Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
Completes appropriate logs forms and paperwork as required.
Reports safety sanitary and fire hazards immediately to the supervisor.
Reports issues to authorities as necessary animal control suspicious activity etc.
Patrols campus grounds and buildings ensuring safety and security of students on school grounds.
Supervises students and maintains discipline in all campus settings ensuring safety and security at all times.
Supervises a variety of student activities including cafeteria bus loading and unloading field trips hallways and other common areas where students gather.
Works with staff and assists students with managing behaviors deescalation and resolving conflicts.
Escorts students from classrooms as requested by staff.
Documents behavior incidents and files reports in a timely manner.
Responds to inquiries and complaints from staff parents and community members regarding student behaviors.
Participates effectively at required meetings with teachers and other support staff using appropriate social skills problem solving and conflict resolution strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A.A.) preferred or equivalent from twoyear College or technical school or at least one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working with and supervising adolescent students preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with and motivate adolescent students.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in oneonone small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules IEPs lesson plans data memos emails operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral schedule or diagram form. Ability to understand and appropriately react to unpredictable situations. Ability to identify and appropriately address safety and security threats.
Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use email internet software and word processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students teachers parents and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a dynamic environment. Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods. Demonstrated ability to participate in physically demanding activities and/or intense situations.
Certificates Licenses Registrations: Certificates as determined by the District including meeting current highly qualified requirements under the reauthorized ESEA. Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card bloodborne pathogen training and blood spill training.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk stand sit use hands for fine manipulation handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.

The work environment is a standard school setting inclusive of hallways common areas and surrounding grounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
