JOB SUMMARY
This position functions under the direction of a custodial supervisor building administrator and/or head custodian and provides custodial services at an assigned building site. The primary focus is on health cleanliness and safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Evaluated by Custodial Supervisor. Reports to Custodial Supervisor Facility Manager and building Administrator.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a school environment; may experience frequent interruptions; may be required to deal with distraught or angry people. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders stairs scaffolding and ramps and will involve walking or standing for extended periods. May require repetitive motion bending kneeling and stooping. Must have the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools and handle/work with various materials and objects. Must have physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The workplace has exposure to varying levels of dust fumes from cleaners and other hazardous and/or unpleasant conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
A minimum of 6 months recent successful work experience. Previous experience involving the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of basic institutional cleaning methods procedures and techniques; Displays knowledge of procedures to assist in building use activities; Displays knowledge of and follows the Custodial Procedures Manual; Knowledge of cleaning materials supplies and equipment; Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures; Displays and applies basic computer knowledge in daily tasks i.e. Email etc; Ability to accept assignments in a positive manner; Ability to work under minimal supervision; Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and other nonroutine occurrences; Ability to follow specific instructions and district policies and procedures; Ability to perform moderately medium to heavy manual activities; Ability to efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials supplies and equipment; Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to determine priorities and to follow a time schedule that results in adequate completion of work; Ability to be selfmotivated and to be thorough and organized in accomplishing work; Ability to maintain effective work relationships with students staff and public including meeting and dealing effectively with groups using school facilities. Ability to present self as a positive role model maintaining good personal appearance and hygiene and displaying good work habits including meeting attendance standards.
Salary:Salary is based upon the current 202324 Custodian Salary Schedule;Placement for all Northshore new custodian hires is Step 1. FLSA NonExempt.
Work Year: 8.0 hours per day. 260 days per year.
Benefits: Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package for eligible positions. Generally you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
