Job Purpose Statement:

The purpose of the High School Campus Monitor position is to support a safe respectful and orderly school environment by monitoring student behavior ensuring campus security and reinforcing school rules and expectations. The Campus Monitor fosters positive relationships with students staff and visitors while proactively addressing safety concerns and contributing to a climate that promotes student success and wellbeing.

Job Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must hold a current recognized first aid card or be willing to obtain the same if directed by the district under ORS 342.664 (2).
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students staff or district patrons
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others

Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

  • Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Campus Supervision

    • Monitor student behavior across the campus including hallways restrooms cafeterias parking lots and other common areas.
    • Maintain a consistent and visible presence to promote a safe and respectful school environment.
  2. Conflict Prevention and Resolution

    • Intervene in student disputes or inappropriate behavior using positive behavior strategies and deescalation techniques.
    • Refer serious disciplinary concerns to school administrators promptly.
  3. Safety and Security

    • Identify and respond to safety concerns or unauthorized persons on campus.
    • Conduct routine security checks and assist during emergency situations drills or evacuations.
  4. Attendance and Tardy Monitoring

    • Monitor hallways and other areas during class times and passing periods.
    • Redirect students who are out of class without permission and support attendance enforcement procedures.
  5. Discipline Data Entry

    • Accurately document incidents and enter disciplinerelated data into the school or district student information system as directed by administration.
    • Ensure timely and confidential reporting of incidents according to established protocols.
  6. Enforcement of School Rules and Policies

    • Enforce campus rules related to dress code behavior expectations and restricted areas.
    • Support staff in maintaining classroom and schoolwide discipline procedures.
  7. Relationship Building

    • Build positive and respectful relationships with students to encourage appropriate behavior and promote a sense of belonging.
    • Serve as a supportive adult presence and positive role model.
  8. Event and Crowd Supervision

    • Supervise student behavior during lunch arrival/dismissal assemblies and extracurricular events.
    • Assist with crowd control and safety at athletic games and school functions.
  9. Communication and Reporting

    • Communicate effectively with administrators security staff teachers and fellow monitors.
    • Complete incident and observation reports with accuracy and professionalism.
  10. Support to Staff and Administration
  • Assist in escorting students as needed and providing support for behavior interventions.
  • Follow administrative directions and help implement schoolwide safety and behavior initiatives.
  1. Other Duties as Assigned
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the safety and wellbeing of students and the smooth operation of the school day.

Any offer of employment made by North Wasco County School District is contingent upon satisfactory results of:

  1. Drug screening tests for any illegal drug or substance classified in Schedules I through V under theFederalControlled Substances Act 21 U.S.C. 811 to 812.This includes but is not limited tomarijuana mindaltering substances or narcotic drugs such as hallucinogens amphetamines barbiturates or any other illegal drug or controlled substance except thosefederallyrecognized as legally prescribed by a physician and used as directed.
  2. Criminal history verification a background check for any convictions directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. Unless otherwise required by law only jobrelated convictions will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the applicant from employment.
