Job Description

JOB GOAL:

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation classroom environment instruction and professional responsibilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is Nine and onefourth (9.25) month contract (190 days) plus a benefits package.NOTE:Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSDs salary placement guidelines.FLSA: EXEMPT.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  1. Meets and instructs assigned class in the location and at the times designated.
  2. Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  3. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs interest and abilities of the students.
  4. Develops and teaches games for students to teach them good skills as well as good social behaviors.
  5. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment material and facilities.
  6. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administration regulation.
  7. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student life and conduct.
  8. Develops reasonable rules and procedures in order to maintain a classroom climate which is equitable fair and conductive to learning.
  9. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  10. Models a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  11. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  12. Makes commitment to time necessary for participating in District/school sponsored staff development.
  13. Assumes responsibility for encouraging and involving parents and community in decision making relative to the development and implementation of programs at the building level.
  14. Completes daily work schedules as assigned.
  15. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty successfully. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid teachers license in Elementary Physical Education by the Arkansas State Department of Education.
  2. Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  3. Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities.
  4. Possesses positive interpersonal relations skills.
  5. Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little RockSchool District.
  6. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  7. Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  8. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
