Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related field
Mid Management/Principalship Preferred
Valid Texas teachers certificate in related field
Three years classroom teaching experience
Ability to work with school staff and parents
Experience in working with students with an emotional disability
Knowledge of state and federal special education laws
Excellent written and communication skills
Primary Purpose:
Provide intervention consultation and training to general education and special education staff in meeting the educational needs of students with behavior issues related to an emotional disability.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model effective teaching strategies or conduct demonstration lessons for specific special education students as specified in individual IEPs.
- Promote the inclusion of students with moderate to severe behavior problems by providing support with district curriculum and supplemental instructional materials tailored for special education in the general education setting.
- Assist teachers in programming for students with moderate to severe behavioral problems who require specialized behavioral support through the Adaptive Behavior Program.
- Assist in the development of instructional activities and curriculum planning/writing.
- Assist in developing documents designed to maintain and document student progress.
- Attend staffing and ARDs when appropriate to assist with the development and/or evaluation of individual educational plans.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of behavioral strategies and the collection of data in the evaluation of student progress.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of individual Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Coordinate with LSSPs in planning and programming for identified
- Mentor new teachers responsible for educating students with moderate to severe behavioral problems in the understanding of teaching strategies behavior programs/interventions and the delivery of appropriate academic curriculum.
- Collaborate with campus staff and other behavior staff to provide ongoing training for special education and general education staff in effective behavior management strategies and positive behavior supports.
- Plan and provide district/campus NonViolent Crisis Prevention Intervention training.
- Develope and provide training for teachers based on data from campus and teachers feedback.
- Assist in selection ordering and appropriate ue of instructional materials for students served in a variety of educational settings.
- Provide individual or group training to parents on effective behavior management strategies and data collection as specified in individual IEPs.
- Conduct InHome Training and Parent training evaluations.
Equipment Used:
Interactive whiteboard computer printer copier overhead projector DVDNCR and other emerging technologies which are particularly unique to the assignment. Instructional and productivity software as required by the assignment.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Varied stressful interpersonal situations and crisis management. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing pulling and use of prescribed holding techniques when necessary. Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying. Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions.
