POSITION SUMMARY
The Audit Specialist II position performs audits to determine compliance with National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and other Tribal policies and regulations identifies control gaps recommends improvements and ensures clear and accurate documentation. Serving as a technical lead the Audit Specialist II may also supervise in the managers absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Conduct audits to ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining documentation departmental records reports and operating procedures in detail.
  2. Test casino departments based on the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Gaming Regulatory Act Gaming Commission Regulations other federal and state regulations Tribal Internal Controls and FireKeepers policies and procedures.
  3. Identify and lead initiatives to enhance efficiencies and processes within audit scopes reporting results including instances of noncompliance and recommend correction or improvements.
  4. Execute supervisory duties following the Tribes policies and procedures when the Internal Audit Manager is unavailable.
  5. Act on findings and observations promptly informing the Internal Audit Manager of concerning areas and proposing possible remedies.
  6. Lead project teams in providing ongoing reporting to executive management and share best practices on areas to improve efficiency in operations.
  7. Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls duplication of effort fraud or lack of compliance with laws government regulations and management policy and procedures.
  8. Review and submit audit opening and closing reports ensure findings are welldocumented and supported by audit evidence and lead discussions on the results with key stakeholders.
  9. Audit various nongaming areas and departments (Indian Preference in Contracting Code Tribal Preference in Hiring etc.).
  10. Organize and coordinate meetings invite necessary attendees and arrange meeting room spaces.
  11. Review and sign off on document requests including Surveillance recordings after verifying they meet all necessary criteria and notice requirements.
  12. Attend and complete all assigned or approved training.
  13. Develop a conceptual understanding of all FireKeepers Gaming related jobs and their functions and maintain working knowledge of all FireKeepers Internal Controls.
  14. Maintain effective communication with the manager and team members using Microsoft Teams for updates reporting and collaboration.
  15. Delegate audit tasks to team members using audit software to document audit procedures findings and recommendations ensuring all records are accurate uptodate and easily accessible for review and reporting purposes.
  16. Successfully complete requisite training related to Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering and Criminal Justice Information System/Criminal History Information within first sixty days and annually thereafter.
  17. Actively participate in community and casino engagements including rallies and training sessions to foster positive relationships and support organizational initiatives.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. AS or AA in Accounting Business or other field relevant to job duties.
  2. Demonstrated ability to independently conduct full audit cycles with minimal oversightevaluating operational and financial records for compliance and accuracyand experience auditing each section of the Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS) at least once.
  3. Experience preparing audit reports and communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders through written summaries and verbal presentations.
  4. Experience identifying control deficiencies patterns of fraud or regulatory violations through field work and data analysis.
  5. Completed at least 60 hours of relevant coursework and training including but not limited to NIGC trainings internal modules and positionspecific development activities required for Audit Specialist I.
  6. Possess a minimum of one professional designations such as CFE CIA CPA or CAMS.
  7. Requisite knowledge of principles and practices related to oversight evaluation and compliance.
  8. Requisite knowledge of record keeping/documentation procedures and practices.
  9. Understand regulatory terminology with the ability to interpret and apply Tribal Federal State local and other relevant laws regulations/codes specifically IGRA and NIGC internal controls.
  10. Proficient use of spreadsheets word processing project management and platforms such as Word Excel PowerPoint Teams casino reporting software and audit programs.
  11. Communication and contact initiation skills to conduct audits e.g. interviewing factfinding etc.
  12. Preserve and protect sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  13. Work and function well in a team setting as well as independently.
  14. Able to travel to trainings and conferences.
Complete and pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening in accordance with NHBP standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Native American gaming industry experience.
  2. BA BS degree in Accounting Business or related field.
