Here is what you will be doing:
The Analyst Strategic Analytics reporting to the Team Lead Strategic Analytics supports the analysis and reporting of data on emerging provincial issues high priority initiatives and corporate strategy and planning. The Analyst is responsible for: conducting analysis in support of strategic decisionmaking needs; refreshing and updating indicators and reports; using data to solve problems of strategic interest and; interpreting and presenting analysis and conclusions within a supportive team environment.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Content expertise:
Employing appropriate analytical methods and communicating results using suitable data visualization approaches to answer questions of strategic importance to Ontario Health
Exploring and identifying the strengths weaknesses limitations and considerations of datasets
Supporting the development of new analyses methods and approaches
Executing optimized processes and protocols for reporting and analysis and delivering on schedule
Identifying data quality issues and proposing solutions and mitigation strategies
Supporting knowledge transfer of products processes and methods to other Ontario Health program areas and external partners where required
Maintaining uptodate knowledge of data and methods relevant to advancing the products and goals of the program including relevant practices in other jurisdictions
Program operations:
Conducting work on multiple projects and assignments shifting and adapting work in response to changes in program priorities and timelines
Executing on project plans sequencing activities and interdependencies; proactively identifying managing and escalating issues and risks as needed
Implementing ongoing quality improvement opportunities in the program
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in medical sciences epidemiology the social or health sciences biostatistics mathematics statistics or another relevant discipline
Masters degree or equivalent expertise preferred
Experience working with health care data is an asset
Knowledge and Skills
Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to identify implement and refine analytic methods data reporting and communication vehicles to anticipate and meet the needs of decisionmakers
Strong timemanagement and organizational skills
Strong oral written and graphical communication skills; experienced in delivering presentations and writing for a variety of audiences particularly involving communication of data and the results of research and analysis
Knowledge and experiencing using research/statistical methods
Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g. Python Stata R) MS Office applications (Excel PowerPoint Word) and SQL
Familiarity with geospatial analytics and tools (e.g. ArcGIS Pro) is an asset
Motivated and productive able to manage and prioritize across multiple projects and assignments
Teamoriented and dedicated to promoting team development a positive work culture and organizational health
Comfortable working in a dynamic fastpaced politically sensitive environment with a high degree of ambiguity
Comfortable working with a wide variety of datasetsin particular Canadian health care administrative datasetsand with investigating and planning analysis using new datasets
