Job purpose
The AfterSchool Program Coordinator is responsible for planning coordinating and delivering a safe supportive and enriching afterschool program for youth aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing family housing precarity or homelessness. The program aims provide youth with access to traumainformed counselling group and individual mentorship life social and mental (confidence resilience selfregulation) skills development physical and recreational activities and leadership opportunities. Reporting to the Housing Manager the AfterSchool Program Coordinator will work closely with CDCDs Housing Department to ensure effective program delivery.

Duties and responsibilities
- Using clientcentered antioppression antiracism traumainformed genderbased analysis plus and strengthbased approaches build relationships and establish rapport with existing community partners vendors landlords clients and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy protection measures for all community partners landlord vendors staff and clients.
- Promote a highfunctioning teamwork environment that is inclusive harmonious cooperative efficient and productive.
- Participate in promoting positive workplace culture through departmental and agency activities.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging summer activities and afterschool sessions for youth participants.
- Support outreach to engage local youth and promote program attendance.
- Assist with the setup and takedown of materials and supplies before and after each session ensuring the space is organized welcoming and ready for program activities.
- Monitor and record participant attendance at each session to ensure accurate tracking of engagement.
- Support the documentation of program outcomes by assisting in the collection of feedback and evaluation data to assess program impact.
- Integrate traumainformed practices and ensure a safe inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
- Coordinate group and individual mentoring opportunities with adult volunteers.
- Contribute to program planning and evaluation offering feedback and suggestions for improvement based on youth input and observed needs.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the program.
- Encourage participation creativity and teamwork among youth.
- Promote and encourage active participation creativity and collaboration among youth by creating an engaging environment.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Housing Manager or Housing Team Leads.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work Social Work or a related field (an asset but not required).
- Demonstrates understanding of the Durham Region social service sector and issues faced by equitydeserving and equityseeking populations we serve.
- Knowledge of genderbased violence antioppression principles and traumainformed approaches.
- Experience working with vulnerable youth populations and/or passion for working with youth and creating positive community experiences.
- Previous experience in community work peer leadership or youth activities (an asset but not required).
- Experience in program coordination group facilitation and community engagement (an asset but not required).
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in a communitybased setting is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Possesses working knowledge of current Windows Operating System Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and PowerPoint).
Additional Requirements
- The AfterSchool Program Coordinator will need to be flexible to work evenings or weekend sessions and events as required.
- A valid Ontario drivers license (Class G) use of a vehicle and insurance with the ability to work in a variety of settings is an asset.
- The successful candidate must provide valid criminal records check prior to commencing employment.
- The physical ability to function effectively in an environment that includes both a normal office and duties being carried out in an external setting.
