Job Description
We are looking for a Software Engineer I to join one of our Cloud Platform Engineering teams at Marqeta! Youll be joining the Core Edge Processing team who are responsible for our cardholderfacing realtime services and infrastructure. This team runs Java services in both our physical datacenters and the cloud handling both cardholder traffic and cryptographic functions that Marqetas card issuing platform requires. Youll be at the heart of moving all these workloads to the cloud adopting cloudbased card network services to accelerate our path out of physical datacenters all while maintaining customer trust.
Marqetas platform supports 99.999% cardholder availability across multiple regions globally serving over 5 billion transactions annually. The Core Edge Processing team operates at the center of everything Marqeta does and there is endless opportunity to make a sizable impact across your team and the whole business.
The Impact Youll Have
- Design develop and deliver high quality products.
- Develop testable scalable trustworthy systems that eliminate manual tasks.
- Promote a DevOps culture through automation ongoing enhancement and teamwide responsibility.
- Prioritize and ship features in line with the roadmap.
- Deliver work effectively in a team environment.
- Participate in core processes of the team (planning oncall rotations metrics review etc).
Who You Are
- Bachelors degree. In lieu of a degree 2 years of relevant experience may suffice.
- Experience developing in Java however we welcome experience in other programming languages.
- Experience with cloud computing. We use AWS but welcome other cloud experience.
- The ability to demonstrate humility empathy and to take constructive feedback positively.
- A desire to grow in your career learn share ideas and help others grow and learn.
- The capacity to work productively on crossfunctional teams and take a collaborative team oriented approach.
NiceToHaves
- Experience with payments or the FinTech space.
- Experience with Kubernetes Terraform and/or Docker.
- Experience in software delivery pipelines and CI/CD systems.
- Contributions to technical blogs a public Github repo or to open source projects.
