40 hours per week 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. As a member of the Facilities Maintenance team you will handle a wide variety of operational and routine activities to service repair and maintainCityowned structures buildings grounds machinery and/or equipment. Youll be one of the goto people when something needs to be fixed maintained or remodeled.
To be successful in this position youll need to have an allaround understanding of facility upkeep and safety procedures a versatile skill set and a cando attitude. You must have some previous construction repair or maintenance experience be skilled with various hand and power tools and have a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges. Handson skill and experience or trade school certification in one or more trades such as carpentry plumbing electrical mechanical painting drywall masonry and/or HVAC is desirable.

Job Functions
What you will do with us:
Perform basic HVAC carpentry electrical mechanical electronic masonry and plumbing repair and maintenance work.
Conductroutine operational checks and inspections of machinery and equipment; detect malfunctions; diagnose and troubleshoot basic equipment and operatingproblems; perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
Inspect buildings structures and fixtures; perform preventive maintenance or repairs when required.
Perform basic construction and remodeling of City facilities.
Paint offices furniture hand railings building exteriors and ceilings etc.
Install and assemble furniture cabinets panels and other office equipment; hang pictures and shelving.
Operate vehicles and other specialized tools and equipment.
Assist with snow removal and ice control and with special projects as needed.
At least 6 months of experience performing routine construction maintenance or repair work.
Technical vocational or onthejob training in at least one of the maintenance trade areas is desirable.
A safety mindset and an eye for detail.
Be at least 18 years of age and a high school/vocational school graduate (or equivalent).
Be a team player with a great work ethic and the ability to deliver excellent customer service with a positive professional attitude.
Have a valid drivers license with satisfactory driving record.(You must agree to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License within 12 months of hire as a condition of employment; training/equipment to assist you in meeting this requirement will be offered and testing and licensing costs are paid for by the City.)
Basic computer/technology skills.
Strong organizational time management and followup skills.
Ability to read/check blueprints construction plans/drawings repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
Ability to read write speak and understand English to follow safety precautions and work procedures.
Be physically able to accomplish assigned tasks in all types of weather.
Ability to work weekends holidays overtime or standby shifts when required and to respond to emergency calls when required.
Or any acceptable equivalent combination of education experience certifications and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties.
