Job Description

Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) is hiring a fulltime Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist. The Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist is a licensed mental health professional who provides therapeutic services for Davis County youth who use substances and may also be experiencing a variety of behavioral and psychiatric symptoms. This position will serve youth in both the mental health and substance use programs and serve all ages.

Essential Job Functions

Essential duties assigned to the Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance abuse evaluations including assessing for cooccurring disorders and diagnosis as appropriate.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans consisting of mutually agreed upon goals and objectives and update as needed.
  • Provide individual family and group therapy using evidencebased interventions to decrease symptoms and improve functioning.
  • Provide consultation on substance use issues to therapists as needed.
  • Maintain clinical documentation as required by agency standards.
  • Coordinate with other staff and community agencies as needed to provide effective care.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and regularly scheduled supervision.
  • Participate in monthly staffing with the juvenile probation department.
  • Complete and submit weekly progress report to the juvenile probation department.
  • Must meet agency productivity standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

This position is classified as fulltime exempt. This position is eligible for a hybrid base rate salary plus incentive model if the candidate is interested.

Base Rate
The base rate for fully licensed clinicians is calculated with a starting annual rate of $75500 plus credit for years of fulllicensure experience as defined below:

  • $75500.00 to $88000.00 per year is the approved base rate range
  • 1% per year for each year of full licensure between 0 and 10 years
  • 1% per year for every three years of full licensure between 10 and beyond
  • $3000 Spanishlanguage incentive annual stipend (paid biweekly) available. Must pass a Spanish assessment.

Schedule

The Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist is a fulltime position and is normally assigned to weekdays. This schedule may require two evenings per week. DBH reserves the right to require overtime weekend work and/or assignment to evening or night shifts depending upon operational need some in and out of state travel may be required. The schedule will require some flexibility weektoweek based on client needs.

Qualifications

The Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist must fulfill the minimum required qualifications:

Masters degree in social work or related field. Current licensure in the state of Utah as an LCSW or equivalent (if under licensed must work towards obtaining full licensure). Must have relevant experience in the behavioral health field.

Experience

Experience in completing behavioral health assessments and providing clinical care to youth and their families.

Preferred

Experience using the ASAM dimension criteria highly preferred.

Skills/Abilities

The follow skills and abilities are critical to the success of the Youth Dual Diagnosis Therapist

  • Clinical expertise in screening assessments diagnosis and crisis intervention.
  • Skill in administering and interpreting the SASSIA2.
  • Must have skills in working with SED populations substance use and with individuals and families undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress.
  • Knowledge of the ASAM criteria for determining level of care and guiding treatment.
  • Demonstrates the skills necessary to motivate and engage youth and their families.
  • Considerable knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development and family systems theory.
  • Considerable knowledge of traumainformed care including screening assessing and treating from a traumainformed lens.
  • Good organizational and practice management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community agencies (such as DCFS juvenile courts etc.).
  • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including evenings.

DBH Criminal Background Check & Drug Screening Disclaimer


Davis Behavioral Health is a drugfree workplace and requires all employees to successfully pass a preemployment drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing preemployment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.


Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws including no use of medical marijuana.


Further all employees at DBH must successfully pass a preemployment criminal background check as part of DBHs licensing agreement with the State of Utah. Failure to pass either screening will result in the termination of any job offer submitted and/or employment for any individual who has started employment while the criminal background screening is in process. Pending and/or open charges will likely impact a candidates ability to pass the preemployment criminal background screening.
