Job Title: Admission Counselor: Music Conservatory and Territory
Job duties:
Plans and implements recruitment activities for assigned territories including some minor travel to
sites both within Ohio and nationally; works with the Music Conservatory primarily assisting with
critical audition days for ongoing recruitment and as part of the admissions process to determine the
musical qualifications of each student; manages inquiries and applications for the Music Conservatory
and specified geographic territory; responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students
for the Music Conservatory as well as counseling students regarding the college selection process
financial aid procedures college policies and enrollment procedures; reviews applicant information
and assesses academic potential specifically for the Music Conservatory; refers students determined
to be musically qualified to the next stages of the audition process; develops and utilizes special
communication strategies tailored to prospective students music interests and needs; travels to music
college fairs and conferences and represents the colleges dedication to musical education; responsible
for counseling students on their music education through the discussion of music courses available
ensembles and how a student auditions for participation in ensembles; explains specific courses such
as music theory audiation aural skills; develops written reports to document track and assess
program effectiveness; assists in marketing initiatives including recruitment publications events
social media and vendor relationships.
** Please note that the roles geographic territory within the State of Ohio includes SouthWestern
City Schools (Columbus MSA) as well as Grove City Christian High School (Columbus MSA). All
these schools are located within a 30 minute radius of campus and never involve more than a day
trip. These schools are typically visited once in the fall and once in the spring and the employee
travels to several of them and back to campus within the core business hours of the university.
The employees territory also includes the State of Indiana centered around Indianapolis. Travel
involves trips in both the fall and the spring and entails 3 overnights each trip for a total of 8 days
away from campus per calendar year. The employees amount of travel in the year is less than 3%.
Must have a Bachelors degree in Music.
Must have completed college level courses in the following:
1) Audiation;
2) Class Keyboard; and
3) Elementary Statistics.
