Description of Work




This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY to current NC Department of Public Safetys current employees and eligible RIF candidates.

The mission of the StateHighway Patrol is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people in North Carolina. This position executes multiple complex HR processes and coordinates work priorities to ensure effective daily operations of the State Highway Patrol Personnel Unit. Additionally this position provides technical and administrative supervision within the Personnel Unit.

Specific responsibilities related to the Human Resources Technician II include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing Personnel Unit initiatives processes and operations.

  • Consulting with the Budget Section regarding the management of salary reserves to ensure funding is available to hire and promote employee.

  • Providing HR training to civilian employees and field operations / sworn members.

  • Reviewing and resolving complex salary administration issues and time and leave issues for employees and management.

  • Conducting leave audits and equity studies periodically and upon request.

  • Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet work needs.

  • Experience using the Integrated HRPayroll System / SAP.

  • Experience resolving issues related to Time and Leave and/or Organizational Management (OM).

  • Experience using Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associates degree typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required;

2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources;

or equivalent combination or education and experience.
