Job Description

Receives and accurately processes surgical or diagnostic tissue specimens. Responsibilities include collection mapping relaxing embedding sectioning cutting staining and processing of tissue specimens with preparation of tissue blocks and slides having accurate patient identification for evaluation by the Mohs Surgeon to render a reliable diagnosis. Slide types include standard staining special staining and Immunohistochemical techniques. Assist the Mohs Surgeon. Provides patient care in the office setting. Communicates with physicians and team members about patients clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines to be accurate and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people deal with stressful situations and handle conflict.
Will perform all job duties or job tasks as assigned. Will follow and adhere to all requirements regulations and procedures of any licensing board or agency. Must comply with all Benefis Health Systems organization policies and procedures.
Education/License/Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in health science chemistry biology or histology preferred.
- Histologic Technician training at a certified training program/healthcare careers college preferred.
- Oneyear related experience required.
- Current Histologic Technician HT (ASCP) certification or eligible for certification required.
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required
- Certified Dermatology Technician preferred.
- MOHS Histotech certified trainerpreferred.
- Current BLS certification.
