You Will Be Doing:
As the Community Care Licensing Specialist 2 you will be responsible for the supervision of a team of childcare licensing specialists who maintain a workload of licensed childcare facilities statewide including conducting onsite inspections and investigations to determine compliance with the State of Alaska Child Care Licensing Statutes Regulations and Policies and Procedures. In this role you will apply child care licensing requirements knowledge to providers partner agency members and the general public. You will be responsible for reviewing approving and issuing Reports of Inspection Reports of Investigation Notices of Violation Enforcement Actions and ensuring the childcare facility is in full compliance before the issuance of a Child Care License

The Community Care Licensing Specialist 2 position will be in the Anchorage Child Care Program Office. This position includes office and field work including travel within the state.

In addition to the minimum qualifications (class competencies) you will need the following core competencies to be successful in this position:

Qualifications

Training or education in social services education health care mental health juvenile justice or a closely related field;

progressively responsible professional experience providing licensing and consultative services to child and adult residential care facilities foster home child day care facilities and child placement agencies; or providing social casework such as but not limited to adoption foster home care child protection and individual or family counseling; or performing probation work.

Competencies means a combination of interrelated knowledge skills abilities and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.


Typically gained by means the prevalent usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.


Progressively responsible means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity difficulty or level of responsibility.


Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.


Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.
