Job Description
The Hadlock lab at the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle WA is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join ourinterdisciplinary team advancing translational research in systems biology. Our lab focuses on two areas of investigation: biomedical modeling to inform clinical decisions and research priorities and 2) developing new data science approachesto accelerate discovery. We work with highfidelity data from prospective studies that combine deep phenotype andexposure data ranging from genomics/multiomics to healthrelated social needs and other geospatial data. We also haveaccess to one of the largest collections of comprehensive electronic health records in the world with longitudinal data foroverpatient records from 51 hospitals and 1085 clinics across seven states. Our team collaborates withsystems biologists data scientists and physicians across the country. Current projects include analysis of immunemediated inflammatory disease placental transcriptomics and modeling Tcell receptor repertoires in postacutesequelae of infectious disease. Our lab acts as a catalyst for highimpact projects and we offer the data tools supportand flexibility needed for fellows to make rapid progress on novel research. This oneyear position offers significantopportunities for growth and career advancement.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing validating and interpreting rigorous models to gain insight into new onset of disease
- Multimodal machine learning with longitudinal genotype phenotype and exposome data
- Developing or applying machine learning and/or biostatistics to detect patterns that can improve clinical decisionsupport and accelerate biomedical discovery
- Submitting results for publication
- Participating on collaborative research projects with colleagues at ISB and nationwide
Qualifications:
- Applicants should hold (or shortly be awarded) a PhD in Bioinformatics Computational Biology MathematicsStatistics Data Science or a related field.
- Published peerreviewed articles
- Expertise machine learning and bioinformatics
- Experience working with single cell data
- Python R or experience learning new multiple coding languages
- Ability to work effectively with people in an interdisciplinary workforce
Preferred candidates will also have at least one of the following:
- Analysis of single cell data
- Developing or evaluating new methods for modeling and analysis
- Integrating knowledge into from databases trees graphs ontologies or free text
