The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components semiconductor optics components aerospace and defense astronomy ophthalmic products telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
The purpose of this position: Assemble and test optical systems and subassemblies to precise specifications prototype work with some supervision (production jobs requiring more indepth skills). Jobs are performed in an Assembly Department or Clean Room. Accuracy of the assembly is extremely critical failure to follow proper technique may not be immediately apparent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation of components; assembly of components into housings without supervision
Preparation of hardware (including but not limited to painting alodine priming cleaning of nonoptical surfaces) Assembly of components per routers drawings and written procedures
Alignment of systems to meet specifications Alignment of assemblies and inprocess testing (basic interferometry and open optical testing)
Processing and final testing documentation per requirement with some supervision
Preparation of assemblies for shipment to customer with review from supervisor or Tech III
