Summary of Job Duties:

The Infrastructure & Research Technology Support Specialist plays a critical role within the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture (UADA) Division Information Technology Services (DITS) team. This position supports the implementation maintenance network infrastructure and all research technologies across all supported UADA departments and programs.

The Infrastructure & Research Technology Support Specialist position is responsible for implementing and supporting the needed technology for research and academic support while also supporting critical IT infrastructure for operational needs which includes but is not limited to network equipment maintenance indoor/outdoor wireless network support research software support server support building security systems etc. This role supports technologies used by UADA faculty staff and students while executing technology strategies that support the institutions mission. This position provides enduser support (e.g. computer technical support software application support printer/scanner/copier support) to users on the Fayetteville main campus the UADA Shult Agricultural Research & Extension Center Research stations and the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station headquarters and surrounding facilities. This position will support special projects related to startup research projects that further the mission of UADA. This role will also assist with ITS Help Desk coverage providing general enduser problem resolution for Division and University owned hardware and software.


Key Responsibilities:

EndUser Support: Provide desktop computer laptop computer mobile device and accessory/peripheral support to UADA endusers at all supported locations. This will require some handson inperson support while also requiring some remote support as well.

Technology Integration & Management: Oversee the deployment and maintenance of technology infrastructure supporting research and academic activities including classroom technology support. Ensure the integration of new technologies to enhance teaching learning and research.

Research Support and Innovation: Facilitate faculty and student use of technology in research and academic settings. Promote and support innovative uses of technology in instruction and research. Provide training and support for research software and tools. Assist in the development of data management plans and research data repositories.

Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their technological needs and provide solutions.

Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs for faculty and staff on the use of academic technologies in classrooms conference rooms auditoriums laboratories etc. Promote best practices in the use of technology for teaching and research. Train key IT personnel on the UADA DITS team to ensure academic and research technologies are supported properly by UADA DITS Helpdesk and Field Operations teams. Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in higher education.

This position reports to the UADA Division Information Technology Services Director of Infrastructure & Research/Academic Technologies. The position is based in Fayetteville Arkansas and will require some travel across the state.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in appropriate Information Technology Educational Technology or with an emphasis on Information Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the organizations goals and objectives.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting endusers in a higher education environment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on listening and questioning skills.

  • Strong documentation skills.

  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as .

  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.

  • Ability to present ideas in userfriendly language to nontechnical staff and end users.

  • Keen attention to detail memory of patterns and interest in problemsolving.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a highpressure environment.

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects/tasks concurrently prioritize requests and complete assignments within an estimated timeframe.

  • Solid relationship management and performance management skills.

  • Ability to motivate and direct team members.

  • Skilled at organizing prioritizing and multitasking.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Be able to work with users faculty contractors and University IT Services at the University of Arkansas.

  • Familiarity with specific software industry standards or relevant regulations.

  • Also be able to read drawings and site surveys.

  • Proficiency in using tools techniques or methods such as data analysis project management or customer service.

  • Ability to manage and coordinate work with contractors and vendors.

  • Natural aptitudes or talents such as problemsolving critical thinking or leadership.
