The Amherst and Amherst Regional Public Schools are seeking a full time Multilingual Education Administrator starting in the fall of 2025. The successful candidate should have experience working with multilingual learners in ELL programs including Dual Language and Sheltered Immersion and be committed to the social/emotional safety and learning for students. The leader will oversee all aspects of the Caminantes dual language program which is a 90/10 program serving students in grades K5 as well as the ELL program grades PreK12 and Biliteracy programs that support all multilingual learners. Responsibilities include instructional leadership; program management; assessment; data management and compliance; and family and community engagement. The leader must be an excellent communicator and collaborator who is able to show respect and care for the growth and development of staff and students. The successful candidate must be committed to supporting the diverse racial socioeconomic linguistic and culturally diverse community. This is a full time permanent position.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides districtwide leadership for PK12 multilingual learner instructional curricular assessment and professional learning initiatives
- Seeks writes and manages additional state local and federal grants to obtain program funding including designing and managing Title III programs
- Oversee annual ACCESS testing and additional language development assessment
- Regularly review and share data on the achievement and progress of Multilingual learners across programs for planning scheduling and strategizing for continual improvement
- Collaborates with Student Services to ensure equitable programming for ML students with specialized learning needs and collaborate to reduce and eliminate disproportionality in special education
- Oversees the district budget assigned to the ML department including developing and monitoring assigned budgets.
- Oversees Seal of Biliteracy Biliteracy Pathway Awards and related programs.
- Collaborates and coordinates programming with the Western MA Bilingual Hub
- Support the implementation of the district Multilingual Parent Advisory Council (MPAC)
- All other duties assigned by the Superintendent Executive Director of Student Academic Success
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive practices
- Be an effective communicator and passionate about supporting the growth of our students.
- Strong understanding of the unique academic and social emotional needs of multilingual learners
- Strong leadership collaboration and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse students family members colleagues and community stakeholders
- Knowledge of researchbased instruction and assessment practices for Multilingual Learners in dual language ESL and SLIFE including experience with curriculum development instruction assessment and evidence based literacy practices
- Program management skills and experienced with federal and state English Language Learner regulations and compliance; ability to monitor and ensure that all functions are consistent with DESE regulations as well as department vision goals and policies
- Possession of a Masters Degree in education ESL linguistics or related field
- MA licensure: ESL and/or Elementary with Bilingual Endorsement and ESL Supervisor/Director
