  • Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) Speech-Language Program is hiring an SLP who shares an enthusiasm about speech-language development in all learners. The SOESD offers speech-language services within our programs and to our 11 component school districts in Jackson and Josephine Counties in beautiful southern Oregon. Our SLPs provide direct and consultative services to school-age students from kindergarten through age 21. SOESD SLPs collaborate with school district teams to develop assessment plans provide speech-language assessments offer hearing screenings develop IEP goals participate in eligibility determinations track student progress and offer individual and small group speech-language services.

    The students we serve include those with a range of voice fluency articulation and expressive and receptive language needs who may also qualify for special education services across disability categories and/or be bilingual. Services may follow the pull-out model or be offered within a resource or site-based classroom in area schools. Some students are served in a day treatment or residential mental health setting. Our team of SLPs and SLPAs meets throughout the school year to share their skills and expertise and to collaborate on strategies that support students. A professional library of the most current editions of assessment tools and professional development workshops/trainings to advance skills and knowledge is available.     Southern Oregon ESD has locations in the Rogue Valley and Grants Pass. The Rogue Valley is the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon home to legendary snow-skiing white-water rafting kayaking hiking and fishing as well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries the Britt Music Festivals the Ashland Independent Film Festival and the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Pass is a beautiful river town with access to outdoor activities like hiking fishing and rafting on the Rogue River.     Position: Speech Language Pathologist

    Position Goal:To help students communicate appropriately through the planning implementation and evaluation of individualized education programs.

    Essential Functions:
    1. Assessingindividual educational speech-language needs of students and making recommendations
    2. Preparing individual educational programs and materials.
    3. Delivering effective speech-language therapy to identified students.
    4. Consulting with parents to integrate home and school goals.
    5. Assisting schools in multidisciplinary IEP placement intervention and other educational decisions.
    6. Providing consultations to teachers regarding speech-language interventions.
    7. Establishing and maintaining positive flexible and cooperative relationships with ESD and local district staff.
    8. Making independent decisions within established policies and procedures.
    9. Preparing accountability records regarding services provided.
    10. Communicating clearly and appropriately.
    11. Participating in professional growth activities.
    12. Complying with local district and ESD rules and policies.
    13. Performing physical requirements unaided or with theassistanceofreasonable accommodation.
    14. Performing jobrelated tasks as designated by the supervisor.

    Minimum Pre-Requisites:
    1. Successful completion of an approved speech pathology program
    2. Oregon teachers license with speech impaired endorsement and acquire an Oregon Health Board of Examiners speech pathology license or
    3. Oregon Health Board of Examiners speech pathology license.

    Location: In person at assigned school(s).
    Length of Position: 1.0FTE / 190 days (academic year)
    Salary: Per licensed collective bargaining agreement for 2024-2025 school year:$56964 to $98865 annually. 2025-2026 rate to be determined based on the outcome of negotiations.
