Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Provide specialized curriculum implementation support for special education teachers and the program team within a tiered instructional framework (Tiers 13). This involves delivering training coaching and conducting data analysis to inform student needs and monitor progress.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Texas teaching certification required

Skills

  • Expertise in adapting general education curriculum for special education contexts
  • Experience providing jobembedded instructional coaching to special education teachers
  • Proficiency in modifying curriculum internalization protocols to address diverse learner needs
  • Strong data literacy skills including the ability to analyze curriculumbased assessment and screening data
  • Proven ability to deliver contentspecific professional development as well as systemic best practice (e.g. campuswide/districtwide) professional development
  • Proven ability to train and coach personnel in various school roles (e.g. teachers support staff principals central office staff)
  • Must be serviceoriented and display initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team setting required
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team/organizational goals

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Design develop and deliver professional learning experiences focused on adapting general education curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students receiving special education services.
  2. Support the internalization of curriculum modules by modifying existing protocols (e.g. Bluebonnet) to help special education teachers anticipate misconceptions identify scaffolds and maintain instructional rigor.
  3. Provide ongoing jobembedded coaching to special education teachers on implementing highleverage instructional strategies including explicit foundational skills instruction and the use of complex gradelevel texts with appropriate supports.
  4. Collaborate with program staff to analyze student performance and screening data especially for PK2 special education students to identify trends and set measurable instructional goals.
  5. Lead datadriven planning sessions that support differentiated instruction and improve instructional alignment with core academic standards.
  6. Guide special education teams in accurately and efficiently submitting and interpreting assessment data for instructional planning and program improvement.
  7. Design and facilitate targeted professional development on assessment literacy instructional strategies data analysis and curriculum implementation for special education staff.
  8. Develop tools guides and instructional resources that support differentiated instruction and equitable access to rigorous curriculum for students with disabilities.
  9. Collaborate with MTSS Systems Integration Liaisons to align instructional supports with findings from MTSS diagnostics especially regarding Tier 1 instruction.
  10. Serve as a key partner in advancing inclusive practices across tiers by ensuring that curriculum implementation strategies promote access and equity for all learners.
  11. Support systemwide efforts to strengthen instructional coherence between general and special education programs.
  12. Facilitate collaborative planning between general education curriculum teams and special education staff to ensure shared understanding and coordinated instructional practices.
  13. Partner with families to foster datainformed discussions that support student progress and reinforce homeschool connections.
  14. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote alignment transparency and shared ownership of inclusive instructional practices.
  15. Identify adapt and create highquality instructional materials and planning tools that support differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
  16. Research pilot and disseminate evidencebased strategies that promote effective curriculum adaptation and inclusive delivery models.
  17. Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and selfreflection to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning
  18. Clearly articulates the work plan while adhering to all departmental protocols for workfromhome and hybrid work arrangements as applicable.
  19. Creates ongoing collegial relationships with customers
  20. Travels as a part of job responsibilities.
  21. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly.
  22. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
  23. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
  24. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
  25. Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
  26. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
  27. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures.
  28. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  29. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by the supervisor.
  30. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
  31. Performs other duties as assigned.
