DESCRIPTIONThe Director of Financial Operations administers the business affairs of the Smithfield School Department. As a member of the Superintendents Executive Cabinet the Director oversees and directs all aspects of the Districts Business Office which include but are not limited to Payroll Benefits Purchasing Grant Procurement State Reporting and the School Lunch Program. The Director works as a member of the Central Office Team and communicates with school building leaders and other Central Office team members on issues related to the district and school budgets. QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree in Business Administration or related field with strong fiscal management and accounting skills. A Masters Degree in Business Administration is preferred. Strong working knowledge and experience working with business computer software Excel spreadsheets iVisions schoolbased accounts and Frontline working in a School District Business Office in a supervisory capacity is TOThe SuperintendentREPRESENTATION STATUSIndividual Employment Contract with the DistrictDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises all employees in the district business office including payroll purchasing financial statements expenditure reports cost reports to reflect the financial condition of the district. Prepares year end state reports. Distributes reports to appropriate a key role in the preparation of the school budget. Maintains statistical accounts. Calculates and collates information on various budget categories; inputs data into the computer system and prepares budget reports in various all accounting operations including payroll requisitions and purchase orders accounts payable fringe benefits and file the school departments benefits plans including the various health and insurance as the districts purchasing agent and administers the Purchasing Policy as set forth by the school at School Committee Meetings is required as well as providing members with regular financial the school departments activity account including trust fiduciary and food detailed monthly financial statements; analyzes and oversees all district expenditures and reports regularly to the all financial reports required of the school district and prepares all checks and control sheets list of bills and itemized justification of the same utilizing the school accounts and maintains communication with principals regarding a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the school district through a computer terminal system including operating funds grants and nonappropriated details of school financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers from such resources as requisitions payroll records etc. Prepares summaries and balance entries that are recorded in individual journals and ledgers and transfers data to general for all school department revenues and all revenues received by the municipality on behalf of the school with the town finance director all revenue and expenditures on a monthly the Superintendent on all financial to all Smithfield School Department policies state and federal laws and all other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Date: June 23 2025
